    Ideally, a semen sample should be delivered to the lab and placed in an incubator no longer than 30 minutes after collection. This is done to maintain the integrity of the quality of the sperm when doing a quantitative semen analysis. In post-vasectomy cases we are really only looking for the presence or absence of sperm. Because of this, there is significantly more laxity in these guidelines.
