Vasectomy With Hematoma (Reader’s Experience)

I am 35 yrs old, 5’9 and 165lbs. I had the procedure done at a Planned Parenthood facility in Concord, CA. The cost was $450. I eat a regular diet and am very active. I have a very high pain tolerance and don’t mind needles. I think everyone should start with some stats.who knows, maybe there’s a pattern? Either way I think it would be informative. Question: What keeps you from banging your chick, soaks up all your sick and vacation time at work, makes you fat, makes you lose any muscle tone you may have had, gives you zits, makes you slap your cats just because you know they THOUGHT about sleeping in your lap, makes you hate John …

VasClip Vasectomy w/ Complications – A Reader’s Story

This is my first post to this website. I have recently visited this site, and found the vasectomy page both informative and useful. I had a VasClip vasectomy performed about 4 months ago. With this, I had the no scalpel technique done, to expose the vas tubes. In my mind, the no-scalpel technique, combined with the VasClip procedure, offered the most minimally-invasive procedure, with the least possible complications. I must say however, that this was not entirely the case. This story may be quite detailed and quite a bit rambling, but here goes. I did some research, and found a urologist that had done the VasClip vasectomy several times. I met with him, and he seemed pretty good, so he …

An Anonymous Vasectomy Story

This is what *worked* for me. (and worked well, I might add). I’m a 47 year old and moderately active. I got mine 48 hours ago. I got a keyhole version (one small central cut), vas were tied and cauterized. I got Novocaine (Lydocaine). That was the only *minor* pain during the operation. 20 minutes for the operation. The doctor was excellent, had done this about 1,000 times before. Wear jockey shorts, but don’t try to wear BOTH a cup AND jeans at the same time (big mistake), very uncomfortable, but I was able to slip the cup out on the way home. Local anesthetic wears off in 45 min or so, so get your meds *before* you get home. …

A Typical Vasectomy Experience

A few weeks ago I had a vasectomy. Strangely, I was less apprehensive about getting the surgery than I was about attending the consultation that preceded it a few weeks earlier. I did think occasionally about cancelling, but it was more to do with the nervousness about being sliced open than the consequences of infertility. I was led to a waiting room that was populated entirely with old people or women. Not a male even remotely close to my age in sight. I was told to strip naked and put on one of those gowns that are open on the back. I was then given a proper house coat to cover myself. I was taken to a semi-private alcove where …

Vasectomy Class at Kaiser Clinic (A Vasectomy Story)

Editor’s Note: Steve hasn’t yet had his vasectomy–he is due to have it September 1, 2005. He’s promised to update the story once he’s had his vasectomy. The reason I’m publishing the story early is that Steven feels that by doing so, it might help others contemplating a vasectomy at a Kaiser clinic by knowing about their “Vasectomy class”. I am 43 years old and am having my Vasectomy on the 1st of September 2005 at Kaiser Medical Group in San Diego, CA. Kaiser first asks you to attend a Vasectomy class, where the procedure is discussed, questions are asked and you sign your consent form. In California you have a 30 day consent that can be waived to a three …

Ben’s Vasectomy Story: A Planned Parenthood Vasectomy

I wanted to share the details of my recent vasectomy for the stories section. Mine is similar to other stories, though I am unique in that I pursued a free vas through the local Planned Parenthood, and am a recovering Sex Addict, which added some unexpected turns to surgical recovery. 3 months pre-surgery My wife and I have three kids, and though I’d like to have more, she is sure she is done. She has horribly difficult pregnancies, throwing up 8 of the 9 months, several times a day. It’s not a fun time. We barely have sex during pregnancy, if at all. She also has really severe post-partum depression, and admitted to common suicidal thoughts after each of the …

Vasectomy Story Ending in Reversal

I had vasectomy on Sept 2010 after a casual warning from my urologist that 1 out of 150 guys have some form of chronic ball aching afterwards. I felt like I was going to be the guy with no trouble since my father had a vasectomy with no problems. I figured that one inherits their genes for the male parts of the body from the father’s side and furthermore certainly not so unlucky as to be the 1 out of 150. I had about 4-6 wks of mild discomfort afterward the vasectomy but then no pain, everything was great. I was running 5 miles a day and having all kinds of carefree sex with my wife. Everything was exactly how …

Vasectomy With Complications – A Couple’s Story

Steve’s Story I’m a guy who views himself as always “doing the right thing.” I agreed to have a vasectomy in July of 1999, and share my story in the spirit of the fact that I wish I had this information before making an almost irreversible decision…. My wife’s current opinion of vasectomies can be found below. This is quite a change in attitude. I had this surgery at her insistence with misgivings… My symptoms over the last 2 1/2 years: I had a vasectomy in July, 1999. I planned to leave my job in August to join an internet start-up (I knew that my position was about to be eliminated as a result of re-organization and downsizing), and figured …

Ross’s Vasectomy Story – A Normal Experience

Well, I’ve had it done! I had it done on Thursday, and feel fine – today is Sunday. It’s very slightly sore if I move too fast, but otherwise no problems. I’m going back to work tomorrow. I’m really grateful to the group – I read all the posts avidly. It was one hell of an eye opener, and can only advise others contemplating vasectomy to do the same. I went into it knowing that both of my eyes were wide open, knowing the pro’s and con’s and having had that huge wealth of personal experience to draw on. I’m going to bore you with my experience, and how the group helped me. I had it done at my local …

Darrel’s Vasectomy Experience

The following is my vasectomy story. Please note that it is long and detailed. There is a quick timeline near the bottom for a short version, but it doesn’t go into detail as to how much pain I’ve been in. I hope people read this before having one of their own. I had a vasectomy on 12/18/03. I was pretty excited about having this done. My girlfriend of 5+ years talked to her doctor about getting a tubal ligation. We looked into a vasectomy and realized that there were less risks, local vs general anesthesia, no hospital stay, etc. so we decided for the vasectomy. I found out that there was a No-Scalpel Vasectomy with fewer risks than a regular …

An Epic Vasectomy Story

Here is my male surgical sterilization experience. I wanted to record something other than the generic, “I worried, it didn’t hurt, it turned black and blue, we tried it out and it still worked, my balls ache a bit, I am childfree, whee!” story. Repeating the mistake of Polonius, “Brevity is the soul of wit, therefore I will be brief”, my story has progressed to a significant length. But I decided to leave my cathartic ramble long and disjointed to preserve the tone of the moment as it was written, over a period of many months. It also helps to hide behind anonymity. I do not pretend that the reader cares about me, but what I write may still be …

John’s Vasectomy Story (With Two and Five-Year Updates)

I am 56, my wife is 40. I have one daughter from my 1st marriage who is 28, and 2 children with my wife, ages 10 and 6. Neither one of us wants anymore children. My wife has been on the pill since age 16. Her mother died of breast cancer when she was 8. About 4 years ago my wife switched to a new ob/gyn who started putting pressure on her to get off the pill. While she did not particularly care for this doctor, the idea of getting off the pill really appealed to her. I tried to point out that getting off the pill may not be a good idea. Also I tried to point out that …

Vasectomy Experience With Varicocele – Euan’s Story

Here is my story so far… October 15, 2002 I am 37 years old and have two kids. I have a varicocele on my left side and was assured that would not effect the operation which would be straightforward. I had my vasectomy 12 days ago. Initially after the operation I felt okay because the anesthetic was still working. However on the following day I noticed that my testicles were bruised, and I felt pain and discomfort at the bottom of my stomach at either side of my groin as if my “tubes” had been yanked violently. I went to my GP a week after the op and she gave me antibiotics as she thought the stitches on one side …

Richard’s Vasectomy Experience

Many thanks to the Web master and all of the other men who have shared their stories and provided important information to others considering a vasectomy! I am 31 days away from undergoing the procedure, so my voyage is not yet complete; however, I wish to share what I have learned so far. (I’m scheduled for the Friday before Father’s Day…kind of ironic!) The whole issue of vasectomy was something I’d never really thought about until a few months ago. I came home from work to find my wife smiling a big grin and literally rubbing her hands together. (She’d had lunch with a girlfriend whose husband recently had a vasectomy.) Still in my suit, tie and overcoat, I sheepishly …

Don’s Vasectomy Story

Several years ago, my wife gave up her fourteen years of having an Intra Uterine Device. Her experience hadn’t been perfect and any reinsertion had some risk involved. It was love/hate for me since it DID prevent pregnancy, but it had those damned nylon threads that hung out of her uterus, which I could feel. The best course of action turned out to be for me to get sterilized. Yes, that means a vasectomy! We were in perfect agreement that it was “my” turn. She was more psychologically impacted with the thought of me getting clipped, than I was. On a private, personal note, several years before I had one scare of pregnancy with one of my girl friends, so …
